Microsoft and Xbox have revealed a lot about their upcoming consoles. Xbox recently announced some first/third party titles that will join the console. Moreover, they have also done various piece by piece breakdown about Xbox Series X. A recent Xbox showcase event also happened on May 7, so overall there is a lot of encouragement from the Microsoft team. They really want people to know about their upcoming console, and perhaps buy the Xbox Series X. This does not mean Xbox is desperate, or they are greedy. It is just that they are talking a lot.
Now let’s take a look at Sony. They first announced that they won’t be at E3, because it is not in their best interests. Sony revealed the PlayStation 5, new logo, an introductory video and after that its just been a dead end. Not a lot of gameplay videos, no-look inside PS5, and no major events. All the tables turned when Epic Games gave us a look into the upcoming Unreal Engine 5, which was featured on PlayStation 5. The Video from Unreal Engine 5 took the game industry by a storm, it was truly the next level. Epic boss, Tim Sweeney acknowledged the impressive performance of PlayStation 5 and Sony. He wrote
“Sony has really done an awesome job of architecting a great system,” Sweeney says. “The storage architecture on the PS5 is far ahead of anything you can buy on anything on PC for any amount of money right now. It’s going to help drive future PCs. They’re going to see this thing ship and say, ‘Oh wow, SSDs are going to need to catch up with this.’” The PS5, combined with tools like UE5, will enable “nothing but seamless, continuous worlds, and you can have this degree of fidelity going on for as many kilometers and gigabytes as you wish,” Sweeney Speaking to The Verge
The Unreal Engine 5 not only took the attention of all potential Xbox Series and PS5 Buyers. It really demanded some compliments from most game developers out there. Sony did not speak or made huge hype about the Unreal Engine 5 footage. They simply used Epic Games as a marketing tool after which it exploded. After the PlayStation 5 and Unreal Engine 5 became the sensation on Twitter.
Microsoft was desperate as they are quickly shared some games, that according to them will use the new engine. Xbox marketing head, Aaron Greenberg said: “I can’t imagine what this engine would look like on the most powerful console”. Hey, we know Xbox Series X is really great and it might be the most powerful console, but can’t you just give it a gap.
“Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
Apart from the talking less technique by Sony. Let’s look forward to another silent response by Sony, that has been the center of attention since yesterday. Yes, I am talking about Ghost of Tsushima, which had an insane Story Gameplay video shared by IGN on YouTube. It was being played at 4K, and the gameplay was breathtaking. It looked like a better version of Witcher 3 and Assasin’s Creed. After looking at Ghosts of Tsushima, fans might consider going with PlayStation 5.
Xbox also struggled with their recent event, which was supposed to tell us about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Xbox Series X. The event turned about to be a total disaster, no gameplay videos, or anything. Fans were furious over the event, and well Xbox keeps planning new events. If anyone remembers, PS4 was exactly revealed like this. Step by Step, Sony revealed various parts of the console. The talking less and doing more technique always turns out to be successful for them.
