On March 12, we heard that Tencent Games has published two major games on Nintendo Switch. Tencent Games is the developer behind PUBG Mobile and PUBG PC/Console Franchise. After this announcement, fans wondered if PUBG is coming to Nintendo Switch. Well, Tencent is having a great relationship with Nintendo. There are definitely factors that could pave a way for Tencent to publish PUBG for Nintendo Switch.
PUBG Corp Wants Their game On All Platforms
The first clue to answer to if PUBG is coming to Switch comes from PUBG Corp themselves. In a statement from PUBG Corp in 2018, suggested that the company will release PUBG on all platforms.
PUBG Corp CEO Chang Han Kim. “We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”
“As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now. If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform,”
Tencent Games is having excellent terms with Nintendo. This clarifies that there are no hurdles for Tencent Games to publish PUBG on Switch.
PUBG is coming to Nintendo Switch, confirms Leak
A popular Nintendo news source, Nintendo Switch tweeted that PUBG is coming to Switch. The tweet was later deleted, for some reasons. However, I was able to catch it on Google Images, and its title remained same. Nintendo Switch News confirmed that PUBG will soon be available to download this year. The nwes source is highly authoratative, and its known for leaking some Switch Games
PUBG Mobile Succes Proves PUBG On Switch Would Work
Moreover, looking from a technological perspective, there are no issues either. If PUBG is running well on Mobile and Tablets. I don’t think Nintendo will struggle with PUBG On Switch. PUBG Mobile runs incredibly smooth, the game has been making huge amounts of cash with battle passes and content. Tencent Games is enjoying the luxury of PUBG on Mobile. They might have thought about replicating the same thing through PUBG on Switch.
A bit more to replicas. There is already a replica of PUBG running on Nintendo Switch. The game called Knives Out is doing very well. It is a 100% replica of PUBG Mobile with enhanced Graphics and features. Moreover, this PUBG Switch version runs on 1080p (60FPS), hence proving the potential of Switch. The game also involves micro-transactions, and it is available on the Japanese Switch eShop account.
PUBG on Switch can be highly successful
Lastly, Nintendo Switch Sales have exceeded 55.7 Million in total. This is another indication of how popular Switch has become. Relatively, if Tencent does release PUBG on Switch, the game would sell instantaneously. On the other hand, Nintendo will also benefit from PUBG, and Switch sales could increase.
“Many people continue to play the game, boosting the overall utilization ratio of Nintendo Switch,” Furukawa said on Fortnite. “Nintendo Switch is unique in that people can bring their consoles with them so they can communicate while playing at a friend’s house or elsewhere.”
In short, these factors are completely in Tencent’s favor. We can safely predict that PUBG will release on Nintendo Switch somewhere this year. PUBG Nintendo Switch sort of themed console can also be developed, and it’ll do quite well.
Lastly, I’ve always wanted to play PUBG on Switch. There is something about Mobiles, that prevent me from enjoying PUBG on it. The hardware in my opinion does not suit well. Nintendo could be quite fun, laying in bed and playing PUBG on Switch. I don’t see a reason why PUBG on Switch cannot happen this year
PUBG has been doing quiet well on all platforms. In our review, Spartan gave PUBG a solid “8”. Here is a quick summary of the review
“In PUBG there are always ways you can lead your team, get better at aiming, and perhaps the smallest of things like driving or looting. I’ve played a lot of PUBG, and I keep coming back to it. I don’t know if it’s the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner message or the Kar98k Headshot from a mile away.”
