After excellent feedback last year, Sony has now brought back PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Challenger Series with a newer name. The tournament will feature numerous competitions across many games. The games include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, Warface, NBA, 2K20, SoulCalibur VI, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
Moreover, players will receive rewards for participating in the tournament. Similarly, there are also prizes for winners. The PS4 Open Series is open to everyone, allowing everyone to participate.
How will PS4 Open Series Work?
The tournament is sort of monthly, but it starts slowly. Every week, there will be an open weekly series and that will slowly progress to Monthly Final. Anyone who is left out of the tournament can participate again next month.
In addition, there will be new rewards every month. All players will get a PS4 Tournaments Theme and Avatar just for participating in the first tournament. Afterward, the value of rewards will only increase. Here are the details via PlayStation Blog
- A special PS4 theme for each game that players complete a qualifier.
- Elite versions of the themes and avatars for players who finish a qualifier in the top 40%.
- Best of the best PS4 Tournaments Champions themes and avatars for those who
- Make it to a Monthly Final.
- Rarest of the rare Champions PS4 themes and avatars for players who finish top and showcase their dominance.
The most important and significant prize is $1,000 (USD) that will be given to the person who tops Month Finals. Players who win first place in weekly open qualifiers will also get $100. Lastly, the PS4 Open Series will be broadcasted by PlayStation. Sony also claims that really good players will also be invited to invitational tournaments.

Sony is really looking forward to ESports. They will also invite some top players from FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to the show. These ESports influencers and a couple of Tournaments could really be beneficial for competitive players and PlayStation future.
