Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Editions continue to perform poorly. In a tweet, the developer of the games d3t wrote that they are working with 2K to continue to support.
d3t on Twitter “Thanks for your valuable #Mafia2DefinitiveEdition feedback. We’re listening and working with 2K to continue to support your experience. Reminder, if you are experiencing any issues or have questions, please get in touch with @2KSupport.
There are a lot of problems with both Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 Definitive Editions. The worst problem is that Mafia 2 performance drops so much, that game often runs below 20 FPS. This is quite ironic, considering 2K promised us it’ll run on 4K. Moreover, this is a 10-year-old game, why is it running on such low framerates.
The Mafia 2: Definitive Edition runs on 20 FPS on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Likewise, it runs on 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Players also report that the frames are locked. Well, this is nothing new for 2K America. They literally released Mafia 3 on PC with frames locked at 30 FPS.
Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is not working great either. The game was actually sold without PS4 Pro Optimization. Hence, it runs extremely poorly on PS4 Pro. Somehow, it’s quite better than Mafia 2. However, fans wanted Mafia 2 due to its impeccable reputation and excellent gameplay.
Here is Digital Foundry exposing the performance.
I’m really sad, seeing the current state of these two games. Mafia games were a great franchise under 2K Czech. In the same vein. 2K America was given the Mafia 3 project, which was a total disaster. Now the franchise has completely lost its reputation with such a poor remaster. I think you should take a look at the 10-year-old base version of Mafia 2 Review on PC. We reviewed the game after 10 years, and I can assure you that it’s better than both of these remasters. Hopefully, 2K will learn from their mistake and work hard on Mafia Remake.
